The Keio University Art Center Archive is a brilliant, distinguished institution that I had the honour to visit while researching Japanese Surrealism. In its holdings, the Archive has the Takiguchi Shuzo Collection, a fundamental resource on this key poet and critic associated with postwar Japanese Surrealism. Among other material, the Collection provides invaluable information about Takiguchi’s exchange with Marcel Duchamp and other European artists. I had the privilege to peruse some of the letters and books by Takiguchi, as well as discover his decalcomanias and a most special notebook filled with blotting paper compositions. The Collection is incredibly well kept and the staff at the Archive could not be more kind and helpful. The Archive is a gem of its kind, and I much look forward to returning in the future.
